A Vegan Earth: Is It Sustainable And Green Enough?

The vegan diet is the most extreme form of vegetarian diet where no product derived from animals is consumed. This means that there is no chance of including even dairy items. It is a completely plant-based diet.

The idea of everyone going vegan sounds extremely far-fetched and extreme, but, this is a valid question nonetheless! According to a recent study, the US population witnessed a 300 percent rise in the vegan population within a span of 15 years (2004 - 2019).

Entire community turning towards a plant-based diet will reduce emissions related to food by 70% within 2050. However, not every vegan diet is as green. If you are making your vegan dish delicious with imported products, the carbon footprint by the transporting medium will raise the overall carbon emission per kg of the food higher than that of any meat-based diet. There are also speculations among a certain segment that the earth will not be able to sustain a completely vegan diet for long, especially with the rising population!
